Who is Stephen Mitchell?
A Photographer
Stephen's love of photography goes back to the early 1980's. His early cameras included an instamatic-Polaroid, an oversized spy-camera, and a variety of Canon LR's.
Since the new millennium he has photographed only with Digital SLR's. With the passion now an obsession, he now shoots with Canon EOS 400D.
A Writer
My binary-pencil scribblings are irregularly uploaded as interesting articles about photography, entrepreneurialism & web-design plus various subjects of interest.
I particularly enjoy writing articles short stories that analogise the life around me, particularly about the experiences I've survived.
A Coder
A self-titled "CSS Entrepreneur" who has made it hobby of learning the intricate details of compliant CSS & HTML plus many related fields whilst desiging, penciling, writing and building interesting sites.
I purchased my own domain name around 1990 after being introduced to HTML & CSS. I learnt to create animated imagery, including a skating duck. I discovered and began using external CSS almost immediately.
I am not responsible for the current DoDuckInn Café website design! But it is the best café in the Adelaide CBD to get a Chicken Schnitzel Burger!
During my teenage years I was the owner, founder, salesman and principal of a recycled-paper business. This business fell flat on a society that hadn’t yet realised the importance of recycling. I plan to restart this business in my retirement years.
I am now pushing myself to learn much more about RSS, XML, PHP and other interesting areas of design.
For the first time in a very long time, I have a dream, a passion, a journey, and a destination. I am going the extra mile to learn more about photography and make it an intricate part of my every day life.
I still hand-code both HTML & CSS. The amazing ease at learning the concepts of web design has been my biggest triumph in life. Recently I resigned all other community interests to pursue my interest in photography and webdesign.
I discovered fluid designs, abandoning iFRAME's and <tables>s completely. I reverted back to using MS Notepad due to DW-conflicts.
I started writing about web design technology and techniques, concentrating on WWW issues, plus HTML & CSS attributes and application.
From 2004 to mid 2007 I was Webmaster for Apex SA/NT. After four years I have moved back into learning web design.
I discovered the importance of Web Standards. I enjoy creating navigation using the alistapart sprite method.
I have attended short courses in web-development, but much of my knowledge is learnt from reading books, stripping HTML & CSS, plus many hours of online research!
I continue to dabble in web-site design [Smash-HIT], but my predominate focus is on learning and shooting more photography.
I have a few small exhibitions and projects happening towards the end of 2008. More later...
