My Self Instructions

In my favourite Tom Hopkins book, "Offical Guide to Success", he asks his readers to print these statements onto business-card size paper for daily-affirmation.

The idea is that if you say something often enough, it will be integrated into your personality and lifestyle. I can testify it does work, and very well.

Read through them, think about how they might affect your life if you were to take them seriously.

I feel good about myself because I always do the best thing possible with my opportunity time.
  • Nobody makes me feel guilty about being successful. If any one cannot handle my success, that is tough. I will find new friends who can.
  • In both thought and speech, I choose positive words to describe everything I am in favour of - to build my resistance to pessimism.
  • I am always cool. Nothing cannot get to me so much that I cannot hold it in until I have a chance to sweat my anger away. After that, I decide what (if anything) I am going to do about the problem.
  • I say positive because success is positive, and that’s the side I want to be on!
  • I never get so busy with today’s business that I forget about tomorrow. I am a planner, and look ahead.
  • I’m always measuring my performance and eliminating unnecessary time wasters.
