My Self Instructions
In my favourite Tom Hopkins book, "‘Offical Guide to Success", he asks his readers to print these statements onto business-card size paper for daily-affirmation.
The idea is that if you say something often enough, it will be integrated into your personality and lifestyle. I can testify it does work, and very well.
Read through them, think about how they might affect your life if you were to take them seriously.
I feel good about myself because I always do the best thing possible with my opportunity time.
- Nobody makes me feel guilty about being successful. If any one cannot handle my success, that is tough. I will find new friends who can.
- In both thought and speech, I choose positive words to describe everything I am in favour of - to build my resistance to pessimism.
- I am always cool. Nothing cannot get to me so much that I cannot hold it in until I have a chance to sweat my anger away. After that, I decide what (if anything) I am going to do about the problem.
- I say positive because success is positive, and that’s the side I want to be on!
- I never get so busy with today’s business that I forget about tomorrow. I am a planner, and look ahead.
- I’m always measuring my performance and eliminating unnecessary time wasters.
- When my tomorrows come: I am always ready for them.

- I am amazingly good at what I do because I have made the effort to be good at it.
- I find new ideas to bring to the problem, different directions to work from, and other people to work through and give fresh inspiration to attack it with.
- I am the persistent type. But I don’t beat my head against walls.
- My persistence is smart, flexible, and inventive.
- I am driving hard for achievement and accomplishment, not just for money.
- I avoid negative people. I do not listen to negative input from the media.
- I always look on the bright side of things - that’s just the way I am!

I always take a moment to sniff the roses, to glory in a sunset, and to see the funny side of life.
- No one can teach you that which they have not done themselves.
- Today I will meet the right people in the right place at the right time for the betterment of all.

- I am a winner, a contributor, an achiever: I believe in me.
- People like me. It is amazing; nearly everyone I meet really likes me straight away. Of course, I like almost everyone I meet right away too.
I guess the way I feel about people shows. It is amazing how often I meet interesting new people who have an enthusiastic outlook! - I am terrific at remembering names and winning games. I get a new persons name right in the beginning, repeating it several times during the first conversation with them, and making mental notes to remind me of them.
- I always prepare thoroughly for every important thing that I can do. This is the one reason I am able to complete every web-project I instigate.

- I know that success depends on how I use my time, so I always use it exceedingly well.
- I work hard, so I have earned the right to laugh at the world and myself. My activities are very important to me. So important that I would not think of injuring my ability to move them forward by shutting off the healing power of humour.
- I look on every problem as an opportunity to use my talent and initiative. I move very fast when fast action is called for. But I am also capable of calmly doing nothing when that is my best move.

- I emphasize the positive in everything I do. I look at the good that can come out of every situation; I talk about the best qualities of every person I meet; I concentrate on the good aspects of every place or thing.
- I psyche my mind up for the important activities: I warm my body up for the challenges; I steer clear of overdosing and under-exercising.
